The PROMISE PROGRAM is a division of White’s Iowa Institute, doing business as Quakerdale. The Institute has served the needs of children and families since 1851. Learn more about Quakerdale’s 155 year History and numerous other Services.
The PROMISE PROGRAM is the result of the “Caring For The Forgotten Child” campaign, which raised funds for the voluntary, long-tern, group home for boys and girls --the Rena Van Orman Promise Home, in Marshalltown, Iowa. The program is totally privately funded. It provides a home through high school graduation for youth whose parents are unable to care for them because of illness, death, divorce, poverty, or some other reason.
Referrals can be made by educators, clergy, relatives of the child, or any concerned adult. A parent, guardian, or the youth him or herself can apply for admission and for a scholarship.
